Author's Summary:
So they asked me what I thought and I was still kind of terrified by the cameras and I just came out with, because I was just trying to be relaxed and jovial like Grandmere keeps saying, “It’s great, you know, it would mean I could marry whomever I want – because my wedding, if I have one, will be in Genovia - and more importantly, the people of Genovia can marry whomever they fall in love with.”

And I mean, I got to say ‘whom’ properly, and for feminism, say I might not get married.

But, as Lilly has pointed out, among all the other crap she has now pointed out to me about this, the media never want to hear about a princess who might not get married.

This fic is so cool.  I honestly think this is the best coming out fic ever.  Mia has the best of intentions but gets flustered and doesn't quite manage to realize what she's saying until she's said it.  I love how real awkward characters can be, I love how great Mia's relationships with her family and friends are, and I particularly like that this fic doesn't just focus on the actual coming out, but also deals with all sorts of related issues like the princess mythos and media interest in celeb sexuality.  I especially love the discussion of her speech afterwards - with the media crediting her with clever and meaningful sarcasm and her thoughts on that.  I also like that this is a princess story as well as a coming out fic, because that's awesome.
