Title: I Melted Wax To Fix My Wings
Author:
TardisIsTheOnlyWayToTravel
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairings: Sam/Gabriel, Dean/Castiel
Genre: Romance
Length: Medium (Words: 26,749)
Author's Summary:
After four torturous months Sam has his brother back, but Dean is accompanied by an angel with a terrible task for them both: help stop the impending apocalypse, or see the world destroyed. Sam has no idea what to do next when the Trickster turns up, blonde and female this time but as maddening as ever, promising assistance.
As time passes Sam finds himself slowly coming to depend on the pagan Trickster god, but just when it looks like the apocalypse can be averted, the Winchester luck kicks in and threatens to ruin everything - including Sam's friendship with Loki.
Review:
Starting soon after The Mystery Spot, Gabriel knows more than she's letting on. It turns out she's on a redo, sent back in time to fix things - however, this story can just be read as using super archangel powers to find things out - that's what I thought when I first read it. Gabriel, despite having swapped vessels to turn female solely for the purpose of catching Sam's eye (normally a sure sign of a badly written story, imo), is actually pretty close to canon Gabriel - she's not as violent and vengeful, but the rest of her sense of humor and her voice resonate with canon well.
