Fandom: Discworld
Pairing:
Rufus Drumknott/Havelock Vetinari
Genre:
Romance
Length:
Short (Words: 16,445)

Author's Summary:
Stabbing, imprisonment, several awkward conversations, a diplomatic crisis, the art of rhetoric, and many cups of tea.  This story is set during and after The Truth and includes spoilers for it.

Review:
The romance in this one is a little understated compared to many ship fics, but the characterizations are great and not just for Drumknott and Vetinari, but for Death and Vimes and others of the watch too.  It's also sort of an alternate POV fic for the case in The Truth, mostly from Drumknott's perspective but with some Vimes insights too which are nice.  This fic doesn't quite manage that Pratchettian humor, but with the fabulous characterizations, it still manages something of the right feel --- I especially love the opening scene.

Length:
Short (Words: 9,114)
Warning: contains non-graphic depictions of murder for hire and government-sanctioned assassination.  Also, some may find the ending dissatisfying, if that merits a warning.

Author's Summary:
John Watson meets Mycroft Holmes one day early. The world tilts slightly on its axis.

Review:
This fic answers a question I (inexplicably) never thought to ask.  I find that very attractive in a fic :)  I wish there was more to this fic --- more detail, more length, more everything --- but it's lovely as it is too.  What if John became Mycroft's sidekick instead?  It's just begging to be read.
