Author: [fanfiction.net profile] Dreaming-Of-A-Nightmare
Fandom: Glee
Genre: Time Travel (redo type - serial and uncontrolled), Soulmates
Pairing: Kurt/Dave Karofsky
Length: Very Long (130,934 words)

Author's Summary:
A web of time-travel, do-overs, romance, friendship, humor, angst, and death after death to bring Dave to new chances and new life, because all he wants is Kurt and to set things right, to undo his regrets. .:. Kurtofsky, mostly AU, multi-chap, complete.

Review:
Interesting premise, a little heavy on Fate as plot device but I thought the characterizations were pretty well-written - I particularly enjoyed the characterizations in the timeline where Dave comes out as a freshman and deals with homophobic bullying while Kurt is the closet case - plus I thought the complicated plotting between the intersecting time travelers personal timelines was done very well. I thought the ending was a little abrupt - it swung so rapidly from intense grief to happily ever after that I felt a little left in the dust, but it was an enjoyable read nevertheless.

Title: How High The Moon

Fandom: Glee
Genre: Historical AU, Romance
Pairing: Brittany/Santana
Length: Medium (39,013 words)

Author's Summary:
Santana owns and operates a gay-friendly speakeasy in New York city during the 1930s. Brittany finally gains the courage to drop by one night.

Review:
Warning: this fic is in 2nd person with "you" as Brittany. Also, her characterization is a bit off - though maybe that's because it's trying to be at least a bit "you" to every reader and can't get all the way there without losing some of Brittany's uniqueness. However, I did like this fic - Santana's character is great and the historical AU aspect is cool. Also, sweet, long femslash - not enough of that around.

Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] DyrneKeeper
Fandom: Glee
Genre: Romance, Actor AU, Story-within-a-Story
Pairing: Kurt/Blaine
Length: Medium (Words: 59,406)

Author's Summary:
Cast opposite the successful actor and performer Blaine Anderson as a romantic lead in a historic drama Kurt, a relative newcomer to the screen, has to learn to navigate his relationship with his character – and with his co-star.

Review:
Decent as both an Actor AU and a Kurt/Blaine romance but what really won me over was the story within a story - the movie they're shooting based on a true story of a WWII military gay romance (actually, I could have had a bit more of that, but it works like it is too).

Title: How I Spent My Summer Vacation (and Other Myths)
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] scarletjedi aka [livejournal.com profile] scarletjedi
Fandom: Supernatural, Glee
Genre: Crossover, AU, Romances
Pairings: Dean/Castiel, Sam/Gabriel, Kurt/Puck
Length: Short (Words: 91,664)

Author's Summary:
For the summer after Junior year, Puck and Kurt are sent to Sioux Falls, Puck to his mother's cousin, Sheriff Mills, as punishment for his stint in Juvie in hopes that she will "set him straight," and Kurt to escape the Hockey Team's violence and to learn to Hunt like his mother from his Uncle Bobby. They meet at Singer Salvage, where they're both surprised, yet very pleased, to find a familiar face. A few days later a black impala drives up with two bloody Winchesters and an injured Angel. Then all Hell breaks loose....

Review:
OMG, I would never have thought that a Glee/Supernatural crossover would work without devolving into Crack!fic - they're such polar opposites. I was wrong. This is amazing.  Great characters and great details - Kurt is pretty badass, "Formerly Chuck"  is really well written - and he brings Gabriel back and Gabriel is awesome as always :) .  Plus, Puck is a Carver Edlund and Ghostfacers fan.  And the romances... so, so sweet - all of them.

Pairings:
Artie/Britney, Santana/Britney
Genre: Character Study
Length:
Short (Words: 6,077)

Author's Summary:
Two questions someone, someday, should ask that would give them all the insight into the mind of Brittany S. Pierce that they would ever want or need.

Review:
I love this fic.  Maybe its a little geeky of me, but it just seems like this fic perfectly demonstrates a rare kind of empathy towards difference.  Here, on the surface, it's about ableism but its also about worldviews.  And in demonstrating this rather than explaining or defining it with big words like relativism and perspecitivsm, it's much more accessible - how it works, why its important, etc - it's humanized.  And its great as a character study of Britney and a Glee fanfic too (that's just not what made me feel like it should be rec'd right away).
