Fandom: Leverage (characters), Emelan (fusion, universe but no characters)

Author's Summary:
Parker moves into Discipline.

Review:
I have a special love for Emelan fusions and or Parker, Hardison and Eliot so I jumped on this fic as soon as it was posted. Some really good choices were made to translate the characters into the Emelan world - their magics in particular. The characterization of all the characters is spot on too.

Author's Summary:
The Leverage team has found their new mark: Panem. In order to take down this monstrous country where teenagers are forced to slaughter each other in the arena, Nate has an idea: Let's go steal the Hunger Games!

Review:
I was really getting into this fic and then, wham! No more fic for you! :( The Leverage team is well-written and I was really looking forward to seeing how the team was going to outwit the advanced tech of Panem's totalitarian government.

Title: The Ghost Job
Author: seraphina_snape
Fandom: Leverage, Supernatural
Genre: Crossover, Casefic
Length: Medium (10,632 words)

Author's Summary:
The Leverage crew takes on the case of Mindy who's trying to prove that her husband wants to kill her for her money. But when Cliff - the husband - is found dead, things start to go wrong. The Feds show up to question Mindy, but the two guys' badges are about as real as Hardison's FBI badge - something that Eliot realizes pretty much right away. With a mysterious death and two fake FBI agents in the mix, the case takes off in a direction that Parker, Eliot and Hardison could never have guessed.

Review:
Straight up casefic as far as Leverage is concerned until the bad guy turns up dead and their surveillance caught nothing. The Leverage team and the Winchesters team up to solve a haunting/murder. It's written in Supernatural style but mostly from the POV of the Leverage characters. I missed the Leverage style humor and characterization work, but understand how that might not have worked in a Supernatural casefic. Otherwise, it's a good mystery story.

Fandom:  Leverage
Genre: Coming Out (sort of), Questioning Sexuality, Friends to Lovers
Pairing: Alec/Hardison
Length: Short (3,612 words)

Author's Summary:
For lgbtfest(2009): When he rolled out of bed that afternoon, heated up some Philly Steak & Cheese Hot Pockets for breakfast, and then went to the office, Alec Hardison was not expecting to experience a paradigm shift.

Review:
The character voices in this fic are absolutely perfect!  I also love the way that the sexuality issues were handled - I think they're all in line with canon characterization and I really like how related issues of masculinity are touched on just the right amount with the whole bi!Eliot storyline.

Title:  Thursday Lunch Cafe
Author:  [archiveofourown.org profile] clavicular
Fandom:  Big Bang Theory, Leverage
Genre:  Friendship
Length: Short (1,602 words)

Author's Summary: The table was turned 45˚ too far clockwise, hardly the optimum angle for maximising space. There was really no reason for Sheldon to be crushed into the corner. And yet. Thanks to the incompetent café staff, here he was. "Alright, what do you want?" Sheldon gaped at the woman. "You're not my waitress!" "I guess your usual waitress took the day off," she said, tapping a pen against her notepad.

Review:
Parker and Sheldon meet, hit it off in their very unique ways, and decide to be (platonic) something-better-than-friends.  It's amazing :D

Five computer geniuses and their asskicking counterparts get locked in a room...

Review:
Crack that plays on a couple of common character type tropes, recognizes extraordinary competence, and it puts a smile on the face of anyone who likes at least a couple of these fandoms.

Title: like you know i am better than the worst thing i ever did
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] postcardmystery
Fandom: Leverage
Genre: Character Study
Pairing: Eliot/Hardison/Parker
Length: Short (1,744 Words)
Warnings: Dark (theme of death, heroic self-sacrifice)

Author's Summary:
“I’m goin’ to die for them,” he says to Sophie, before he ever says it to Nate, and it is not a simple statement of fact but a barebones confession, the helpless bleeding of a wound that he was too smart to not know had been made but he’d been putting pressure of for years, hoping that with spit and a prayer that he could make it heal, but he never could, isn’t sure that the stitches that could close that wound have even been invented.
“Yes,” she says, “And how long have you known that?”

Review:
This fic is an Eliot character study - the ship is very background so don't read for that (or decide not to read because of it).  I think Eliot Spencer is an awesome character - if you subscribe to the Sorting Hat's view of humanity, Eliot embodies a lot of qualities of the ideal hero according to Hufflepuff which is really interesting and more rare than any of the other house hero types - I'd personally like to see more of the Hufflepuff hero.  This fic is a bit of a deconstruction of the hero archetype though - taking those hero traits and pushing them down the Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism (towards the latter) which makes for a very dark fic but an interesting one.

Title: Keeping Up Appearances During the Holidays

Fandom: Leverage
Genre: holidays, humor
Pairing: Parker/Hardison
Length: Short (2,932 Words)

Author's Summary:
Parker wants to go to the FBI Christmas party.

Review:
Cute holiday fic with that quirky brand of humor that typifies this canon.  Though I actually think the FBI storyline took canon off the rails (it really just broke my suspension of disbelief, I'm afraid), I do think the holiday party idea makes for a good holiday fic in this case.

Review:
Short, but shows off the cleverness of both shows' characters. I especially like Parker's Eliot impression and her reaction when Neil recognizes her.

Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] BlackEyedGirl
Fandom: Leverage
Pairings: Parker/Eliot Spencer/Alec Hardison
Genre: Romance, Coming Out, Asexual Relationships
Length: Short (Words: 3,750)

Author's Summary:
Parker doesn't understand why it has to be more complicated than: "I want to be with you, I just don't want to sleep with you." It's everyone else who has the problem. (Parker as a biromantic asexual)

Review:
LGBT fest fic from a few years ago. I've just found Leverage and I really like some of the quirky characters, especially Parker, Eliot, and Hardison. I think this fic does a good job with Parker's characterization and manages to be a good portrayal of romantic asexuality and coming out as ace too.

Alec Hardison, if pressed, would probably suggest that he subscribes to a post-modern definition of identity.

Review:
Good look at Hardison's character with lots of geeky (fandom) references, LGBT themes, and ship-related fluff.
