Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] threewalls
Fandom: Person of Interest
Genre: Casefic
Pairing: Root/Shaw
Length: Very Short (1506 words)

Author's Summary:
A year after they saved the world at Cartagena, Root is still tapping Shaw for side-missions.

Review:
This one is another brand new Trope Bingo fic. It's short, but it captures the craziness of working with Root and how amazingly Shaw manages it and gets on with being BAMF really well.

Review:
Crack that plays on a couple of common character type tropes, recognizes extraordinary competence, and it puts a smile on the face of anyone who likes at least a couple of these fandoms.

Title: why don't we get together and call ourselves an institute
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] leupagus
Fandom: Person of Interest
Genre: Romance
Pairings: Finch/Reese
Length: Short (Words: 4,282)

Author's Summary:
“It’s perfectly logical. We’re bound to be caught at some point together, and as far as I can see there’s no downside to connecting Mr. Warren to Mr. Wren socially. We’ll have an easier time explaining ourselves being together if we’re observed being together, and since you’ve vetoed all of my suggestions for activities that you could take up—“
“I’m not joining a bowling league, Harold,” John says firmly.

Review:
Finch and Reese try to manage several cover identities and end up creating a real relationship in the process. Some outsider POVs add fluff here which nicely offsets the often cold aspect of a ship between two very closed-off characters.

Warnings: slightly graphic references to assassination

Author's Summary:
John never wears gloves. Finch bought John an apartment full of windows. And why.

Review:
A story about love with emotional scars and kind of a lot of baggage.  I appreciate the author's attempts to clear up some Fridge Logic issues with canon too (it will probably turn into everyone's headcanon), but this story is beautiful in its own right.

Into the sequence of If-Then statements that codes the physical world someone has fired the event of her face meeting rough brick, and her body handles this as it is programmed to. She’d like to shuffle it all off like a snake, leave the dried husk behind to be buried wherever they hide girls that don’t matter.

Review:
Great character study of Root that fits with the style of canon while also getting into Root's head and voice.

Fandom: Supernatural, Person of Interest
Genre: Case!fic (Person of Interest style), General
Length: Medium (Words: 28,349)

Summary:
When the number of Dean Winchester, a supposedly dead serial killer, comes up, Reese and Finch find out how hard it can be to keep a dead man alive.

Review:
Nicely done crossover, fits both canon styles without too much abuse of either storyverse.  Among all the outside point of view fics on the Winchesters, this one ranks pretty high, partly because the Person of Interest characters are also outside the law, making their own justice but are still close enough to police that this fic has a lot of similarities with the many "Police Procedural of choice cast catches a Winchester" fics.  It's also different though because it means Dean is in real danger of more than just arrest from Reese's misconceptions which casts Dean's typical attitude in a very different and darker light.   I like the characterizations of the Winchesters and Finch and Reese and overall, this story is well-written.

Author's Summary:
He built the Machine. She wants to hack it. Mm, sounds like the beginning of a perfect relationship to me.

Review:
Better than the author's summary makes it sound.  Good character voices, some drama and the crossover works.  Not really a ship!fic - even for a crossover ship it's on the light side (abandoned before a face to face between the two hacker lovebirds), but it takes two very interesting characters and adds drama, geekiness, and some flirting and get a good, if short, story.

Review:
Person of Interest has a big element of justified paranoia, two of the most emotionally repressed characters in fiction, and a demanding Mission of the Week-driven plot, all of which make it difficult to manage a good ship!fic in the Original Flavor, but this fic manages it.  I love how the author focuses on the little details to tell the bigger story.  This fic is a fandom and pairing classic by a well-known fanfic author who's written plenty of other great fics too.

Review:
This fic is nominally part of a series according to AO3 but none of the fics in that series are at all related (they're all good though).

This fic has a higher percentage of smut to plot than I usually like in a fic but the emotional aspects of this story of really beautiful. Astolat's one of the great Person of Interest fic writers (and writes in a lot of other fandoms as well) - you could really give anything by them a go.
