Review:
I was prepared to hate this fic. It had so many things I don't like and I'm always worried about the Peter/Stiles pairing plus there's the dubcon tag (that's not the Peter/Stiles ship though) --- anyways, I didn't expect to like this, but time travel fics are totally my not-so-secret weakness so I tried it and I was really pleasantly impressed. The shippiness is a bit much because Stiles starts the fic head-over-heals in love with Peter from all sorts of drama over decades that are all implied backstory. And Peter, being pretty crazy, is not at all weirded out by it. Thus the Time Travel Romance genre tag above rather than just Romance. But the plot is good - I love how Stiles uses magic in a believable way, how he pretends to be the alpha in order to beat the Argents, and how he sets up all the people Peter would have killed to get taken down by law enforcement (which turns into a much more satisfying and dramatic route anyways). While the fic itself could use a little polish just to bring the narrative up to par with the quality of the plotting, it's overall a good fic.

Fandom: Sherlock BBC
Genre: Cover art, fusion

Review:
I've yet to read the fic this story illustrates but I added it to my reading list because of this cover art. There's some great design choices here and clearly the artist has strong technique and can manage lots of layers. The colors are vibrant and I love this artist's use of fandom icons - the little Sherlock head with the fandom text - that's very nicely done and helps show what to expect from the story. I love the use of the white moonlight to draw the eye from the moon at the top to the title and author to the grass at the bottom. I also LOVE the font - I wonder if it was hand drawn or downloaded from somewhere? The lighting between the layers of tree branches is done well too. My only slight criticism would be that its very busy and some great details like the bats and the jack-o-lattern get lost to the tree branches. Otherwise, I love it.

Title: Fairy Play
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] manic_intent
Fandom: Gotham
Genre: Romance, Casefic
Pairing: Alfred Pennyworth/Jim Gordon
Length: Medium (30,946 words)

Author's Summary:
Alfred was clearing up Bruce’s supper - milk partly drunk, sandwich untouched - when the house phone rang. Given the lateness of the hour, and the number of people who actually had access to the house number, the identity of the caller was perhaps obvious, and it wasn’t lost on his ward.

Bruce’s eyebrows lifted. “It’s a little late for Detective Gordon to be calling.”

Review:
Four episodes in and already this new fandom has some lovely fic. This is a very nice ship fic for what will probably be the main pairing in this fandom. I like that in addition to the romance plot, there's also a twisted case and both men mentoring Bruce and Cat. I just wish it wasn't so short (and/or that there were more fics with this pairing available, but I guess I'll just have to be patient for those).
