Author's Summary:
In the beginning, Sam wanted to be a part of the life. He didn't like being left behind for hours on end, but not least he wanted to stop Dean from getting hurt. His Father had other ideas, and Dean was insistent that he stayed out too. So in the end, he left for benefits other than his own.
Review:
A really interesting fic about how Sam ended up running away (/being kicked out) to go to Stanford. I can totally see Dean in particular treating Sammy like this, for these reasons and teenage Sam reacting to it in these ways. And this fic, as opposed to a lot of other fics on the subject, manages to be believable by making each character sympathetic in different ways - no one is being blamed (though all of them are portrayed in unflattering light a little bit), and more or less, everyone is acting out of good intentions and having reasonable reactions based on their point of view.
