Review:
Awesome AU. I love this earlier glimpse of John when he's still very much a soldier and his friendship with Lestrade and then his altered meeting with Sherlock are even better because of it. I like the characterization of Lestrade here too and love his lexicon of Mycroftian expressions (two blinks = confused, looking up the the right briefly = rolling his eyes, etc). My only criticism is that the romance goes from barely there to being recounted in past tense summary and while the last scene in the fic is really sweet, I just wish there'd been more time spent on the romance because it seems like it would have been really lovely.
