Author:
Saziikins
Fandom: Sherlock BBC
Genre: Romance, Alternate POV, Friends to lovers
Pairing: Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade
Length: Very Long (169,277 words and counting)
Warnings: Non-graphic depictions of violence including discussion of scars from past torture in the course of Mycroft's work, short scene of physical abuse by Sherlock while Sherlock is high with discussion that this isn't the first time its happened
Author's Summary:
It's 2005. Greg Lestrade has been promoted. He's trying for kids. He's got a serial killer on his hands. And he's just met two of the most intriguing and frustrating men he's ever encountered. Eventual Greg/Mycroft. Eventual spoilers up to and including His Last Vow.
Review:
A lovely slow burn Mystrade romance - really a fantastic love story - that starts before canon. I love how they start out as friends and very slowly keep stepping their relationship up a bit at a time, both kind of in denial about where its going, but with it all turning out for the best. Story is from Lestrade's POV. Also covers Lestrade's POV on Sherlock pre-canon (drugs, getting started as a consultant and private detective, his ongoing conflict with other people, etc) and the characterizations of both Sherlock and Lestrade are great (warning for Sherlock getting violent to a sympathetic character, mostly while high) - the author has estimated 72 chapters for the story, of which 32 are posted and we're approaching the start of canon so I expect we'll have Lestrade's perspective on the events of canon soon too. Has some cool original cases mentioned but generally not the point of the story so they don't always get fleshed out or even solved 'onscreen', but generally cool ideas anyways.
