This fic is so well-written. It very nearly ignores canon completely (not in the sense of going against it, just that so little of the plot from canon comes up) that this could actually be written as an original novel of publishable quality with limited changes. It's not light reading by any stretch and the romance is complicated, but sweet more often than not (without being fluffy). Once I started reading it, I was hard-pressed to put it down.
