Author:
Amand_r
Fandom: Torchwood
Pairings: Gwen/Rhys, Jack/Ianto, Jack/Gwen
Genre: Case fic, bodyswap fic
Length: Short (Words: 3,054)
Note: rec'd on fancake
Author's Summary:
Hey, this one time? At Torchwood? Gwen and Jack switched bodies and everything went pear-shaped.
Review:
The case fic aspect of this one is awesome! Brilliant, really. It's complex and well-written and creative. The case starts out with some alien corpses turning up. Things go from basic clean up and cover up to compelling mystery though when its discovered that the aliens died, not from murder or accident, but from eating things that their species would simply never eat. And then the team learns the bodies they've found are a few of a larger crew who may also be in danger, lost, and confused. Somewhere along the line, a device gets involved which causes the body-swap element, but it doesn't come across as forced and while it does get briefly explicit, this is a case fic, so it doesn't eclipse the story.
